Department Of Natural Resources

The department of natural resources had two incidents at the Lake of the Ozarks over this past week.

DNR is currently overseeing a cleanup of a fuel leak from Barry’s z-mart on highway 7 and route z in climax springs. An investigation found at least one of the fuel lines at the convenience store to be leaking. The department will be determining how much of the fuel entered a local waterway and what environmental damaged may have been caused. The second incident involves shamrock point homeowners association for numerous violations of the Missouri clean water law at its wastewater treatment facility. The DNR inspected the facility in October and again in April, documenting in both inspections that the association failed to submit a complete application for a construction permit for installing dechlorination or ammonia removal improvements. Staff also found the facility does not have proper sampling port or a flow measure device. The department has referred this matter directly to the Missouri state attorney general’s office.

  1. What I would like to know is why it took the DNR 3 days to respond, the odor of gas had been very strong for 3 days at least before they showed up. There was no doubt there was a gas leak, as you drove by the smell over welmed you in your vehicle.
