Bond Says Leaks Do Damage

Senator Kit Bond believes that unless leakers are imprisoned, national security will continue to be weakened.

The Senator, who is Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, says the information leaked from the pentagon about the ongoing war in Afghanistan puts the country at risk.

“Intelligence leaks are a dangerous signal to our allies and out enemies and our potential sources can’t trust us and too often we give away vital information,” says Bond.

Senator Bond says it is shocking that any American, much less someone in the pentagon, would betray their country and put soldiers at risk by leaking information. Bond says wikileaks, where several stories have been published, is not giving the full context.

“You get a lot of uncoordinated, unverified, unconfirmed battlefield reports. It also may not paint a truly accurate picture of what’s going on.”

Senator Bond says the damage caused by leaks will not stop until the American people see more perpetrators in orange jumpsuits.
