Governor Requests Assistance for Miller, Benton, and Laclede Counties
Governor Jay Nixon is looking for a disaster declaration for Miller County.
The governor announced yesterday that he would be requesting individual assistance for the county for severe flooding, excessive rain, and storm damage from storms that happened throughout June and July. Nixon says he is asking President Barack Obama to issue a major disaster declaration for a total of 32 Missouri counties so they can being recovery. The governor is also asking for agricultural assistance for Benton and Laclede Counties, citing extraordinary hardship and losses at Missouri farms. Nixon’s fifty five county agriculture requests will allow farmers to get assistance from the US Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency.
