Missouri News Talk Radio Lake Ozark

PB#2 Closed

This weekend public beach number one in Lake of the Ozarks State Park will be open, public beach number two will be closed.

E coli samples were taken from both beaches Monday.  At public beach number two it showed e coli at 325 colonies per 100 milliliters of water.  The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has said any reading above 235 colonies will prompt a closure.  Public beach number one in the state park met standards and will be open this weekend. Looking statewide, Wakonda State Park beach north of Hannibal is closed this weekend due to a 387 reading.  Mark Twain State Park beach northeast of Columbia is closed as well.  That beach has been closed because of high water but a test on Monday also showed 601 colonies of e coli per 100 milliliters of water, almost three times the DNR standard.
