UPDATE: Truck Located, Man Caught, Another Man Jailed
An unidentified Columbia, Missouri man is in police custody after a hit-and-run accident this morning in the city of Osage Beach.
At about 9:45 a silver Dodge 1500 truck hit a vehicle on Highway 54 in the area of Stonecrest Mall. The 2001 silver Dodge 1500 fled the scene headed west leaving three cars damaged and one person with minor injuries.
The Dodge was reported stolen from Columbia yesterday.
This afternoon at about two o’clock, Osage Beach Police and Missouri State Water Patrol officers located the truck and the suspect off of D Road on Oak Bend Road in Miller County.
Osage Beach Sergeant Arlyne Page says the 29-year old Columbia man will face several charges, including leaving the scene of an accident with injury charges, felony property damage charges, possession of stolen property charges, and 2nd degree vehicular assault charges.
There was also another crime committed after the suspect was in custody. According to Sergeant Page the stolen pickup involved in the hit-and-run was being loaded on a rollback wrecker to be taken to impound lot when a Miller County resident jumped onto the rollback and into the pickup. He stole a computer in the stolen truck and was chased by officers from the scene. He ditched the computer in a heavily weeded area behind a trailer on Oak Bend Road. He was taken to Miller County Jail and the computer was recovered.
