The city of Lake Ozark is going to try to get state and federal grant money for job creation.

Jeff Sigin with McClure Engineering brought Bill Ransdall with the Missouri Department of Economic Development to the Tuesday Lake Ozark board meeting. Sigin wanted to make the board aware ofa possible funding source for new utilities.

“There may be up to a $1.6 million grant that would be available for the sewer and water infrastructure required. It’s not a 100% grant. The funding could actually be anywhere from 50% to 75% coming from the state government and the balance would be a local match because you have to be determined how that might be financed,” says Sigin.

Sigin is with the Horseshoe Bend Development Group, one of the key landholders along the new state route 242 in the heartland of the city. He ways the grant money has to be used on new utilities that will bring jobs.

“The $2.6 is just specifically for job creation so it would open up and bring sewer along the Horseshoe Bend corridor, servicing all the properties that are served by that district.”

Sigin says McClure is already familiar with the Missouri Department of Economic Development process.

“Actually its exactly the same team that were have in place that worked with both the federal and state agencies to get the money for Horseshoe Bend Parkway so its all based on job creation and the development that would be brought to the community.”

The federal Economic Development Administration would also be involved.

“It’s through the EDA and it’s, again, the DED administers it so its exactly the same rant process that we went forward and received the $4 million for part of the Horseshoe Bend Parkway funding.”

Route 242 is a four lane divided highway connecting the community bridge to the new 54 expressway across 2 miles of Lake Ozark’s heartland.
