JJ Bridge Marks 200th for MoDOT

The 200th of 802 bridges across the state planned for rehab is complete.

The Route JJ Bridge over the Richland Creek re-opened on Friday, marking the milestone for MoDOT’s five year long Safe and Sound Bridge program.

The steel thru truss bridge was built fifty three years ago.  Prior to the project it was twenty feet wide with only enough room for one lane of traffic.  Now it has new concrete beams covered by an asphalt surface, widening the bridge to twenty six feet allowing for two lanes.

KTU Contractors began work on July 6th and completed the project a week ahead of time.

Since April of 2009 when the Safe and Sound Bridge program started, MoDOT has re-opened a new bridge every two and a half days.
