PSC Grants Lake Region Rate Hike
Approximately 140 Lake Region Water and Sewer Company customers are going to see a rate change.
Monday the Missouri Public Service Commission approved $191,000 overall rate hike. The rate increase was approved by a three to two vote of the commission.
Lake Region, which serves Shawnee and Horseshoe Bends, told the Public Service Commission that infrastructure improvements, including a 100,000 gallon per day waste water treatment plant and a 200,000 gallon elevated water strorage tank, had increased costs.
The last rate increase approved by the Public Service Commission for Lake Region was in July of 1997.
For a typical resident using six thousand gallons of water a bill will go from $17.77 a month to $20.46.
Sewer customers in Shawnee Bend pay a flat rate of $21.96 a month. That bill will jump to $36.19.
Horseshoe Bend sewer customers pay $25.54 a month currently, that will jump to $29.30.
The newly approved rates go into effect mid-September.
