Spill Sunday Has Little Impact
A sewer spill sunday in Lake Ozark is no cause for concern.
Matt Michalik, city public works director, said at last night’s meeting the call came in Sunday night to 104 Arrowhead Estates Road.
“When the service personnel arrived they found it and discovered that a two inch pressure main was broken," Michalik said. "The waste water from the main collection line in the city on the ten inch force main was back flowing down this broken line and running down the hill into the lake."
Michalik says crews cleaned up the spill and reported it to MoDNR. MoDNR sent an inspector down on Monday to investigate. Michalik says everything checked out.
“There was no cause for alarm. The wind was blowing, the lake was choppy, we limed the spill area and he did not seem to be overly concerned about it."
"I mean although it’s never good when sewers run into the lake but with the type of sewer system we have it is completely unavoidable. A line is going to break. There is nothing that you can do about it."
Michalik said last night that stating a cause would be speculative at best.
