Four Referred By MoDNR to AG
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources says four Camden County wastewater treatment plants are violating state clean water law.
MoDNR referred the Falls Point Homeowners' Association, the Hyd-A-Way Cove Homeowners' Association, Red Oak Resort, and the Lake Ozark Ampitheater to the Missouri Attorney General on Thursday.
The Falls Point Homeowners' Association operates the Town Homes of the Falls wastewater treatment plant. DNR says two inspections of the plant showed a lack of chlorine and vegetation growing in the sand filter bed, a sign of a lack of maintenance.
The Hyd-A-Way Cove homeowners association in Camdenton operates a wastewater treatment facility at the condo complex. During two DNR inspections staff found a dechlorination system installed without a department approved permit, cracks in basin walls and evidence of leaks.
Gerald and Judy Reinhold of St. Louis operate the wastewater treatment plant at Red Oak Resort and at the Mountain Lake Village Subdivision in Camdenton. DNR inspected the facility twice and found solids in the receiving stream and partially treated wastewater seeping from the sludge holding basin.
And Anthony and Lisa Oddo operate the Lake Ozark Ampitheater in Camdenton. DNR referred them to the attorney general for an unpermitted holding tank, cracks that allowed wastewater to bypass the holding tank, and a significant hole in the holding tank one foot above ground level. DNR says there was also evidence around that hole of wastewater discharge.
