Ameren UE Seeking Rate Increase from MPSC
Ameren UE is asking the Missouri Public Service Commission for a rate increase.
The corporation announced on Friday that they plan to file for a $263 million dollar rate increase. Ameren says they are trying to seek reimbursement from customers for reliability improvements and environmental compliance.
The corporation says $200 million dollars of the increase is due to infrastructure investments and environmental controls. Ameren points to a recent $600 million dollar investment in scrubbers for the Sioux Power Plant near West Alton. Ameren says the scrubbers will eliminate almost 100% of the sulfur dioxide emissions from the plant. The corporation would like ten million for their efforts in West Alton.
The energy company says the $263 million dollar rate increase would translate into an 11 percent increase across all rate classes. For the average customer that uses eleven hundred kilowatts a month, an electric bill would increase 31 cents a day.
The Missouri Public Service Commission will review the request.
