You May Be Eligible for EITC

The IRS wants to make sure everyone who’s eligible files for the Earned Income Tax Credit. Estimates are hundreds of low to moderate income taxpayers in the lake area may not even know they’re eligible. In 2010, 7,700-plus Miller, Morgan and Camden County taxpayers got over $17 million in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) last year. You may be eligible if you earned less than $49,078. Among those eligible to claim are the self-employed or those with service jobs in private households, childless taxpayers, rural residents, and those getting public assistance.
