Hurricane Deck Bridge Work Will Stop Traffic

Construction work on the new Hurricane Deck Bridge will start having an impact next week on the existing bridge. Starting on Wednesday, the current bridge on Highway 5 will be closed for up to 15 minutes at a time. MODOT says this will happen anywhere from four to eight times a day for the next four months. This closure will allow crews to begin setting steel girders on concrete piers for the new bridge. The new Hurricane Deck Bridge is expected to open in late 2013.
