Highway Patrol to Probe Alleged Animal Abuse by Eldon Police

Eldon’s Police Chief has asked the Highway Patrol to looking into allegations that his officers abused two dogs at the city’s animal facility last fall. The animals were reportedly forced apart while mating. The male dog lost his genitalia, and both were euthanized by a local veterinarian. The information came to light in a series of Facebook posts. The incident is alleged to have taken place after the city started cutting back on its support of the city-run facility.
