Camdenton Passes Ordinance Banning Funeral Protests
Friday, February 8th, 2013
The Camdenton Board of Aldermen has passed an ordinance banning funeral protests. The new law allows the city to prohibit any protest within 300 feet of any residence, cemetery, funeral home, church, or synagogue from happening an hour before or an hour after any actual funeral or burial service is being held. Camdenton City Administrator Brenda Colter says the ordinance follows closely to a similar one passed in Manchester, Missouri. That ordinance was upheld last year by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
