Sunrise Beach Says No to Asphalt Plant
Tuesday, March 12th, 2013
The Sunrise Beach Board of Trustees has denied a request for a Conditional Use Permit to Magruder Limestone and Paving for a controversial asphalt plant in the quarry on Highway 5. Area residents opposed the plant, concerned about noise and odor. Magruder requested the permit after being awarded a contract to resurface and widen a 28-mile stretch of Highway 5 between Camdenton and Versailles. The job will require 100,000 tons of asphalt mix.
