Appeals Court Upholds Kelly Simino Murder Conviction
The Missouri Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of a Miller County man convicted of killing his girlfriend. 45-year-old Kelly Simono was found guilty of murder in the death of 23-year-old Brandi Mathews. The dancer at an Osage Beach strip club disappeared in 2006. Her remains were found by hikers under a bridge in Eldon in January, 2009. The 22-page appellate opinion rejected Simino’s arguments that he denied a speedy trial, the judge gave the jury improper instructions, and court records from an abuse case were improperly shown to the jury. Simino is serving a 31 year prison sentence.
