Columbia College Students to help with investigation of a muder from 1992 in the Eldon area
Columbia College students will be giving a helping hand to law enforcement agencies. The students from Cold Case Homicide class will be working on the 1992 shooting death of an Eldon man lead by Mike Himmel the professor of forensic science and retired Columbia Missouri police detective. Students are going to work as a major case squad with local law enforcement agencies during their spring semester and will be looking for details that may have slipped through the cracks in the past and applying new technologies to the case that did not exist in the 1990’s. This isn’t the first time the college has helped law enforcement on cold cases, back in 2009 students worked on the 1989 murder of Carolyn Williams and wound up providing officers with two new persons of interest.
