Levy Increase on the April Ballot for Mid County Fire Protection District

Residents will be able to vote one more time on a possible levy increase for the April election for the Mid County Fire Protection District. A levy increase that was on the ballot in November of last year was denied causing the district to have to consider closing stations and selling equipment. That caused residents to flock to the Mid County meetings when they found out their homeowners insurance would more than likely go up due to the closings. After a packed house meeting Fire Chief Scott Frandsen decided that after that meeting where several residents indicated they would be willing to serve on a citizen committee to promote the ballot measure that they would put it back to a vote to the people during the upcoming April elections across the county. The levy will add no more than 12 cents on the 100 dollars assessed to support the district which has been running on the budget originally set in 1986.
