Amendment Nine, the digital privacy act, passed with 75% of the votes on Tuesday showing that Missourians are serious when it comes to protecting their data and letting the Federal Government know it. However, a local tech owner is worried that the law isn’t exactly what voters read it to be. Ray Buchli is the owner of Riverview Technologies and he say’s he’s heard something different about the Amendment only after it passed
After the passing of the Amendment, F.B.I. Director James Comey spoke about the State of Missouri saying it’s an appropriate legal protection that won’t hinder law enforcement. The Amendment sets up a Constitutional safeguard that requires police to obtain warrants before searching or seizing cell phones, emails, computer flash drivers and other electronic data.
