It’s been a busy week for the Mid-County Fire Protection District as crews responded to two structure fires. The first fire occurred on July 17th on old 54 Road near the entrance to Old Kinderhook. Firefighters arrived on scene to find the three story structure fully involved. There were no injuries as the house had been abandoned for several years. The fire is considered suspicious and the cause is under investigation. The second fire occurred on July 20th when firefighters were dispatched to a single story home in the 1700 block of resorts road. Units were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes. There were two people sleeping in the residence at the time of the fire who were able to escape without injury. The cause of the blaze is believed to be an electrical short in the living room area.
