An arrest has been made in the murder of 35 year old Chad Gerber in Laclede County. According to the Laclede County prosecuting attorney’s office, 65 year old Matthew Rumbaugh of Mountain Grove was arrested and has been charged with first degree murder, first degree assault and two counts of felony armed criminal action. According to a release, Rumbaugh had allegedly confessed to the killing to Laclede county deputies after he had been taken in. Rumbaugh had owned the garage where Gerber worked. Originally the Sheriff’s office had arrested Gerber’s wife Jennifer, who had been in the house with her daughter during the shooting incident and were unharmed. However, she has since been released after police determined she had nothing to do with the shooting. Jennifer Gerber also indicated to police that she was willing to complete a polygraph. A 15 year old, Gerber’s son, is still recovering from also being shot during the incident. Rumbaugh is currently being held in the Laclede County jail with no bond.
