Car Accident Leads To Arrest and Life Flight

A two car vehicle accident in Sunrise Beach sent one person to the hospital by helicopter, and another person to jail. 48 year old Jeffrey Moffit was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Pickup on route TT near Putt N Bay Drive when he failed to negotiate a turn and ran off the roadway. Moffit then over corrected crossing the center line and hitting 18 year old Andrew Caddell who was driving a 2009 Nissan. A passenger in Caddell’s car, 17 year old Megan Rice, sustained serious injuries and was flown by Staff for Life helicopter to University Hospital for treatment. Caddell sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment. Moffit sustained minor injuries and refused treatment. Moffit was also arrested on two counts of assault in the second degree and failure to have insurance. He was put on a 24 hour hold in the Camden County Jail.
