State lawmakers have approved a bill that aims to protect commercial property. A 2011 state law prohibits residential contractors who fix roofs or complete other exterior repairs from offering to pay insurance deductibles as an incentive to be hired. It also includes a provision that allows property owners five days to cancel a contract with a contractor. This year’s legislation would expand the provisions to cover commercial property as well. Both the house and senate have passed the bill which now goes to Governor Nixon for consideration.
