A local fire department is trying to raise some extra money to help teach kids about fire prevention. The Southwest Camden County Fire Protection District in Macks Creek says they don’t have the money in their budget this year to promote their annual “fire prevention week” campaign. They’re hoping they’ll get some help in the way of donations from the public and area businesses. They’ll use the money to buy handouts, magnets, and other educational materials to give out to the kids. Anyone willing to help should contact Josh Kingston at 573-363-5995. Fire prevention week is October 8-14.
