Lake area residents have the opportunity this month to weigh in on possible job cuts at Fort Leonard Wood. The Army estimates that base could lose more than 5 thousand civilian and military positions by 2020. The army anticipates cutting its overall force by more than 140,000 over the next six years. The Sustainable Ozarks Partnership, which promotes economic development in the counties surrounding Fort Leonard Wood is encouraging the public to comment on the proposed cuts by the August 25th deadline. The Army’s comment site can be accessed by going to the group’s website at: sustainableozarks.org.
