The Gravois fire protection district signed on a new team member as a full time firefighter for the district. David Hurtubise was a volunteer firefighter for the Rocky Mount fire district and a former intern from Mid-County. He started on May 15th on the C shift. The district now has eight full time fire fighters protecting citizens. At the last meeting for the Gravois Fire Protection District’s Board of Trustees, modifications to the districts points per run program presented by Fire Chief Ed Hancock had been tabled. The program helps compensate volunteer firefighters by earning points for fuel and vehicle use. The board did approve modifications to the district’s standard operating procedure nepotism policy which takes effect this Thursday. The changes where made to bring the existing policy up to date. The next meeting for the district is Monday June 2nd at the administration building on route O in Laurie.
