The historic Larry Don has successfully been brought to shore. After sinking last month at its mooring near Bagnell Dam the boat was finally raised with help from a number businesses. Mike Shepard, owner of Beaver’s at the Dam and the Larry Don says they were finally able to get it off the bottom with the help of a large military winch truck. A dive team was sent in to pump out the boat and several barges then made a cradle to float it to shore. Shepherd says a final decision about the fate of the Larry Don has not been made but now they can see what damage has been done. The Larry Don made its debut in 1948 and believed to be the oldest commercial boat the lake.
