A Laclede County man who shot and killed a Black Bear in June is now facing criminal charges. The Prosecutors office has charged Jimmy Don Slavens with 3 class “A” misdemeanors. Slavens reportedly was driving on Jadestone road when a Black Bear ran out in front of his truck and became trapped between the truck and a fence. Slavens then shot and killed the bear. He has been charged with illegally possessing, disposing and killing of wildlife. Black Bears are a protected species in Missouri.
