Today is the final day for Lake Area residents to make their voices heard concerning proposed cuts the Army is contemplating for its military base at Fort Leonard Wood. Joe Driskill is the director of the Sustainable Ozarks Partnership. He says the goal of the organization is to help people realize just how important the base is to the area’s economy.
Officials say the base could lose up to 5,400 civilian and military positions by 2020 if the proposed cuts are approved. Residents who wish to comment on the issue can do so by going to sustainableozarks.org
