Local Police Warn Of Computer Virus

The Osage Beach Police Department is warning lake area residents about several dangerous viruses that are on the internet right now.  One such virus is called ransom ware.  While on a website, a person might get a popup window they did not request and when attempting to close it, they notice their computer starts acting funny.  Eventually they get a popup window that says their computer has been locked and that they must pay to have it unlocked.  Residents are urged not pay the ransom or follow any of the instructions the popup window suggests.  Police say the best way to avoid this scenario is to keep antivirus software up to date.
