Trooper Returns To Work, Investigation Continues

A local trooper from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division recently returned to work after a handcuffed Iowa man drowned while in his custody at the Lake of the Ozarks. Anthony Piercy had been placed on administrative leave after the incident that occurred may 31st. Piercy had arrested 20 year old Brandon Ellingson on suspicion of boating while intoxicated. Piercy was taking Ellingson for a field sobriety test when Ellingson allegedly stood up, stepped on the edge of the boat, and fell or jumped overboard. Ellingson’s life vest came off, and his body was recovered on June 1st.

    So this trooper just gets out of jail free. I really have a hard time understanding this.
    He is suppose to be the picture of safety on the water and yet someone drowns under his watch
    and he gets 2 weeks paid vacation. He should have restrained him then went directly to a dock and called
    for a patrol car to come and assist in removing the suspect.
    I think the officer should be fired and charged and tossed in jail.
    I hope this suspects family sues the state for multi millions of dollars for a wrongful death suit
    and this troopers career will be over
