At the most recent meeting of the Lake of the Ozarks Regional Economic Development Council, members of the board debated heavily on the issue of an economic study. According to the board, the last economic study on the region was several years ago before the crash of the economy and has said our area should already be like Springfield. It was discussed by the superintendents of the area schools that housing is becoming a serious issue. In some areas, people are not moving to the lake to become full time due to drastic differences in costs of housing. An agency that does area economic studies had given the board an estimate in what it would cost to do a study and the board is looking at hiring the firm to do the study to see where the lake needs to go next. L.O.R.D.E.C is considering paying for some of the costs but will also discuss involving the cities of the lake to cover some of the costs as well. They decided to gather more information and will discuss it at the next meeting.
