A Camden County man is in big trouble after escaping from the back of a police car over the weekend. According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, deputies went to the 3500 block of business park road in Linn Creek Saturday afternoon searching for Michael J. Smith who had warrants for felony domestic assault. As they approached the home, the suspect fled and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. However, while deputies spoke with witnesses, Smith was able to slip out of his handcuffs, roll down the window and escape into the woods. He was taken back into custody later that night after being found in a garage. He is facing numerous charges including escape from custody, resisting arrest, burglary and possession of a controlled substance. Bond has been set at $250 thousand dollars.
