It’s summertime and with it comes warmer temperatures and an increase in outdoor activities. However, there is a downside such as insects and parasites. Derek Warnke is with the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Camdenton office. He says residents need to especially be on the lookout for ticks.
Warnke says residents need to take precautions against ticks as they can spread various diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Lyme disease. There are specific things people can do to keep them at bay such as shower quickly after returning indoors to remove unattached ticks. Putting clothes in the dryer on high heat before washing can also kill them.
