Missouri Senate Has Delayed Shared Hours Bill

missouri capitol

The Missouri Senate has delayed final approval of the Shared Hours Bill. The bill would give employers more flexibility to reduce hours for their employees by as much as sixty percent instead of laying them off; however some senators worry the proposal could hurt workers instead. Senators worry this bill would change employment standards, and workers who need the 40 hours a week could lose those hours. The state would need to approve the plan, and will not approve unless employee fringe benefits remain in place.
