With the warmer temperatures, lake area residents are sure to see more motorcycles on the highways. And they might soon notice something different about some of the riders…no helmets. The Missouri House of Representatives has given first round approval to a proposal that would allow motorcyclists to ride without a helmet if they’re at least 21 years old. Andy Nockunas is the President of Fishers of Men, the Local Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He says he has mixed feelings about the proposed bill.
Many motorcyclists like Nockunas believe the use of a helmet should be left up to the rider and not the government. The helmet bill needs one more house vote before moving to the senate.
