Nixon Vetoes Bills, Lawmakers Aren’t Happy

Governor Jay Nixon has vetoed several bills that he says would have jeopardized the state budget by providing special tax breaks to certain industries.  The governor says the tax breaks approved by the legislature on its final day of session could’ve reduced state revenues by $425 million dollars annually and local revenues by an additional $351 million dollars.  Republican lawmakers dispute those figures and have defended some of the tax breaks as clarifications of policies that they say have been incorrectly applied by the Department of Revenue.
