Governor Jay Nixon has vetoed two bills defining captive Deer as livestock. Nixon says the legislation would have violated the State’s Constitution and go against longstanding successful conservation practices.

Nixon says the legislation would have also eliminated the role of the Missouri Department of Conservation in regulating white tailed deer some lawmakers disagree with the governor’s decision and may attempt to override his veto.
