The boating season officially got underway at the Lake of the Ozarks over the Memorial Day weekend, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division is reporting good news as there were no deaths on the water. The patrol does say there were several boating while intoxicated arrests as well as three small boating crashes. Traffic on the water was heavier than last year as well. However, overall, the Highway Patrol says it was a pretty typical Memorial Day weekend.
It was a busy Memorial Day weekend for the Missouri State Highway Patrol as several accidents and fatalities are being reported on the state’s roadways. Seven fatalities occurred which is one more than last year’s holiday weekend. At the Lake of the Ozarks, troop “f” handled a total of 18 crashes and one of those was a fatality in California, Missouri. The patrol says of all those who died in accidents over the three day weekend, none were wearing seat belts.
