At last night’s (Monday) meeting of the Osage Beach Board of Alderman met in special session to discuss several items that are coming up at their next meeting for vote. The first item of discussion included a budget review showing where the city sits today. The second conversation was deciding whether or not the city should hire a full time economic developer for the city to help get new businesses in town. The Alderman debated it heavily and decided to have more of a discussion later down the road. Some aldermen suggested having a current staff member take on the additional work while others believe they should work more heavily with the local economic development groups already working in the lake area. Either way they all agreed that in the past, Osage Beach had not been as open as some other cities in the lake and they want to change that now that they have control over Osage Beach Parkway. All items discussed on Monday night will be fully discussed at their next scheduled meeting.
