There is some uncertainty surrounding the proposed sewer project on the lake’s north shore. The Rocky Mount Sewer District is attempting to overcome the mounting challenges including adequate funding for the project. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources denied the district’s application for a $1.3 million dollar loan late last year which would have paved the way for an extended aeration facility off of route “Y” on red arrow road. The district then ran into resistance earlier this year regarding a land application method. 164 acres were located, however the owner refused to sell. Originally the district had plans for an extended aeration facility at blue spring creek but that was scrapped following protests from area residents. The proposed red arrow facility also met resistance from homeowners. Officials say the district’s fate at this point remains uncertain.
