Senators Speak Up To Save FLW

FortLeonardWoodAfter Fort Leonard Wood lost more than a 1000 jobs due to the 2013 programmatic environmental assessment the Army now estimates that it could lose up to 5,400 civilian and military positions by 2020. Missouri’s Congressional delegation is speaking up for the base. Senators Roy Blunt and Claire McCaskill joined Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler in sending a letter to the Army chief of staff and the Secretary of the Army. The lawmakers write that Fort Leonard Wood possesses the core training and operational capabilities the army will need in the future and it argues for protecting the base from potential force and job cuts which could lead to base closures and restructuring.
