Severe storms ravaged the lake area yesterday bringing high winds, flooding and tornadoes. Starting around 1pm the first round of storms prompted a tornado warning in southern Camden County and northern Hickory County. According to local law enforcement, no damage had been reported but flooding did start to occur and continued through round two in the area of Morgan County. Emergency management director Rick Bias says they don’t know of much damage other than hail, but will get a better idea once the water goes down
The second storm prompted tornado warnings from Benton to Morgan through Camden and into Morgan counties for over an hour producing large hail up to golf ball size, funnel clouds and even a water spout near Bagnell Dam before becoming a straight line wind event knocking out power in Osage Beach and several large trees in Miller County. The National Weather Service will now send inspectors out to the areas to inspect any damage and report on if there had been any touchdowns in the area.
