The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection district is announcing that their ISO rating for the community has increased slightly. Sunrise Beach Fire Chief Dennis Reilly says it’s not as high as they were anticipating but they are pleased none the less. Reilly is attempting to get the rating brought down from a class 5 to a class 4 which would save residents even more on their homeowner’s insurance costs. According to the ISO, areas that need improvement include internal training, community risk reduction, revision of fire codes to emulate current national codes and specialized training in terms of public education. Reilly believes the department can achieve these goals and has set a time frame of 12-14 months to accomplish them.
