The new sewer plant in Sunrise Beach is scheduled to be operational soon. Schultze Surveying and Engineering Representative Amanda Laporte told the Sunrise Beach Board of Trustees this week that the plant is slated to be up and running by Memorial Day. Laporte also says the new ultra-violet equipment will be delivered next Friday. A request has been made to the Department of Natural Resources for a temporary patch in order to get the plant running. Chlorine would be used to treat the discharge until the ultra-violet equipment is operational. Concerns that the plant needed more insulation to protect it from freezing in the winter were also raised by some board members. Laporte agreed to take those concerns to the engineers.
