At the most recent meeting of the Village of Sunrise Beach, the city planner Roger Corbin announced that they are applying for a 55% Grant from the U.S.D.A.’s Rural Development Division to add a 3rd Tornado siren to the community. Plans are to place this new siren near the Hurricane deck bridge, which will cost the city just above $16,000.00 total. If approved, COMO electric committed to the city that they would install an electric pole for it at no cost however the city would have to buy the pole. In other news, the city announced more accomplishments in phase 1 of the sewer project. Engineer Mike Delong with Schultz Surveying says the force main in all lift stations were coming along and all but 2 grinders were operational. He also expressed concern that the fence which was suppose to be built around the treatment plant had not yet been installed and could pose a threat to visiting shootout fans who will be parking in a lot next to the plant. The next meeting of the Village of Sunrise Beach will take place September 8th at the city hall starting at 6pm.
