Texting could soon be the difference between life and death in the lake area. In the last week, local phone companies gave customers the ability to text 9-1-1 when in an emergency, however, more research must be done before bringing this method to Missouri.

 

Osage Beach police communications supervisor Kwabena Asante says although calling 9-1-1 is the best way, this type of method would help under certain circumstances:

 


Asante says they to have this feature in Missouri by the end of 2014:

 


This feature would help people caught up in emergency situations where talking on the phone is not an option.
