Residents in Sunrise Beach may soon see an increase in their water rates. At its meeting this week the Board of Trustees approved raising water rates from the existing base residential rate of $39 to $44 for 5-thousand gallons. The existing commercial rate for one thousand gallons is $39 and if approved, the new rate will be $59. The rate increase is expected to bring in over $71-thousand dollars in revenues. City Officials say the increase was necessary for the water system to pay for itself. A public hearing regarding the rate increase will be held on June 9th. In other business, the board in closed session approved a thousand dollar pay raise for all city employees including police, public works, water works and administration.
