The new $14.5 Million dollar Pulaski County Jail is finally open.
Work has been ongoing on the project for nearly 12 years, but it wasn’t until 2016 when a new tax was approved by voters that helped make the facility a reality.

Pulaski County’s Prosecuting Attorney Kevin Hillman tells our news partner KY 3 TV with this new jail, they have the space they need to keep the bad people off the streets.
The previous jail could only hold 50 or so inmates at a time.
Sheriff Bench says the jail has its own medical staff and it’s surrounded by barbed-wired fence, to help with any possible breakouts.
